Dear Faculty Members,

To encourage educators to engage in open education and to advance UN Sustainable Development Goal 4"Ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all" — the Taiwan Open Course and Education Consortium (TOCEC) is hosting the 2025 Open Education Excellence Awards. We sincerely invite faculty members of our university to actively participate.

The awards include two main categories:

  1. Outstanding Use of Open Educational Resources (OER) in Digital Teaching Award
This award recognizes faculty members in higher education institutions who design courses incorporating OER (such as using OCW or MOOCs videos as instructional materials, Open Textbooks, or other OER-based course designs).

    • School Group: Each university may recommend one faculty member to represent the institution.

    • Individual Group: Faculty members may also self-nominate independently.

  2. Outstanding Open Course Award
This category is open to higher education institutions that have developed open online courses (e.g., OCW, MOOCs) that:

    • Have obtained a Creative Commons (CC) license

    • Have not yet received external awards
The award is divided into two groups:

    • OCW Group

    • MOOCs or Microlearning Group
Each university may recommend one course per group.
